Eastern Ends Tiger’s Season, Tigers Lose 9-6 in Sectional

Eastern scored three runs in the first inning and two more in each of the next three innings; and were up 9-0 before the Tigers could catch their breath.

Lady Tigers Season Ends in Regional Semifinals

The Lady Tiger Tennis team played amazing throughout the 2023 season. Sadly, it ended in a similar way as the last few years. The Lady Tigers fell to the state ranked Delta Eagles in the regionals. A tough loss does not put too much of a damper on a team that saw almost an entire new lineup and many young players take major steps to keep the machine rolling with a 15-4 record.

The Alexandria-Monroe High School Lady Tiger softball teams season came to an abrupt end as Lapel pounded the Lady Tigers, 13-1, in sectional action. The Lady Tigers kept it close early as the score was 1-0, Lapel, after two complete innings.

Boys’ Varsity Golf wins two, drop two

On Monday, the Alexandria- Monroe High School Boys’ Varsity Golf team defeated its Central Indiana Conference (CIC) foe Mississinewa, 177-189, to go 7-1 on the season. Owen Harpe was the medalist with a 9 hole score of 41. Colton Eden and Brady Gast tied next with 45 each. Isaiah Fye finished with a 46 and Spencer Hiser had a 52 for the day.

Each of us as sports parents should recognize that we’ve been called to some important work. Sure, this athletic experience can and should benefit our kids in the here and now. It can and should help them get in shape, have some fun, and hopefully experience the satisfaction that comes with high achievement. But elite sports parenting means recognizing that this whole thing isn’t just about the here and now. It’s also about the future. Sports are a great training ground - the best, perhaps - for preparing and equipping our kids for success in life, in the “there and then” of who they become long after their playing days are done. The impact of the experience shouldn’t end with today; it should benefit our kids forever. That’s the important work - the deeper purpose - that sets the champion sports parent, and the young athletes they’re raising, apart.
