The Indiana Gaming Commission is reminding Hoosiers to gamble responsibly particularly as the gaming industry expands and grows geographically and technologically.

Located on the north side of Gilmore Road, a quarter mile west of State Road 109, the Morris Gilmore house, built in 1838, holds a significant place in the history of Adams Township. As the first brick house in the township, it has been rightfully designated an Indiana Historic Landmark, a testament to its historical importance.
The thrill of bagging a big buck can bring a smile to any hunter’s face. But the exertion of dragging that trophy back to camp could bring on a heart attack or stroke, according to the American Heart Association. In rural settings where EMS responses can be delayed and minutes matter, it’s important for hunters to be ready to respond in a cardiac or stroke emergency.

According to the 1947 edition of the textbook, “Practical and Scientific Barbering,” once owned by Pete Garwood, a barber shop was referred to as a “common resort for loungers and idlers of every description.” This book also references the Bible, where Ezekiel explains the use of a barber’s razor to “make it pass upon thine head and upon thy beard.”


The Alexandria High School Class of 1960 hosted a 65th year class reunion weekend. The last call prior to the name change to Alexandria-Monroe High School, gathered at the Monroe Township Event Center for an afternoon event before enjoying an evening gathering and dinner at The Harrison.

2017 Frankton High School graduate, Brayden McQuitty, joined the Alexandria Police Department in June of 2025. He said his position with APD is his first experience in law enforcement although his family has a history in the profession with his uncle serving the Indiana State Police and his grandfather serving in law enforcement.

The Alexandria Main Street Organization continues to work towards bringing the downtown area together. The group just wrapped up one of its fundraising efforts with its recent gold tournament held at the Golf Club of Alexandria. Members of Main Street would like to thank everyone who participated in the event, not just those who came out to play, but to all the sponsors and community supporters. Alexandria Main Street member, Penny Stevens, said, “It not just a game of golf, but it is giving back to the community.”

Alexandria Fire Department Captain, Trevor Delaney, joined the department as a full-time firefighter in July of 2018. Delaney’s passion to pursue a career in public service and firefighting comes from a family tradition with his grandfather serving in the fire service for 51 years. “It is something I always wanted to do,” he said.
