Alexandria Public Safety officials prepared for Solar Eclipse

(information from Indiana DNR, the National Weather Service, and Space.com)On the afternoon of April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse – the first since the Great American Eclipse in 2017 and the last until August 2044 – will arc across the southern half of Indiana from southwest to northeast.Alexandria Police Chief, Mike Montgomery and Alexandria Fire Chief, Adam Matson, say the city is prepared to handle any public safety issues, including an increase of visitors to the area.

City welcomes new Park Caregivers

The City of Alexandria and Alexandria Park Board welcomed John and Cora Thompson to Alexandria as the new park caregivers earlier this year.The Thompson, originally from the Muncie and Yorktown areas, moved to Tennessee where John worked at the Saturn Plant until 2004 and Cora spent ten years working for American Health Care.
