Recently, Alexandria Police Officers were dispatched 600 W. Tyler Street at the Little league baseball diamonds to a fight. On arrival officers were met by two people who stated they were there to watch their children’s baseball games when William Rubendall went after one of them with a baseball bat before retrieving a hammer from his vehicle.
The Alexandria Board of Works approved a request from Water Department Superintendent, Mark Caldwell, to promote Eric Schmidt to the position of Assistant Superintendent. Alexandria Mayor, Todd Naselroad, asked the BOW members to approve the promotion retroactive to the retirement of Tony Brown as Schmidt has been acting in the role since fall of last year. Schmidt has been a member of the Alexandria water department for five years.
The Alexandria City Council approved a Resolution to accommodate public comments at its monthly meetings Monday evening. The public comment agenda item has not been a part of the monthly agenda for over a year, and residents have struggled to get on the agenda to address council members with concerns.

ATLANTA, Ind. — The Atlanta Town Council voted 4-1 to fire Andy Emmert, who had served as the town’s utility superintendent and building commissioner.
A call to assist Madison County Sheriff Deputy to locate a suspicious person led Alexandria police officers arresting Austin Matthew Petty, 25, of Daleville and Katelyn Jeaneen Powell, 24, of Fortville on various charges including Railroad Mischief and Public Indecency.
Deputies from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call of a missing child in the 4700 block of County Road East 900 North near Alexandria Sunday evening. The call came in at 7:35 p.m. when the parents of a non-verbal 12 year old boy with autism noticed he was missing. Deputies responded within minutes and requested assistance from other surrounding agencies requesting manpower for a search of a large, rural area.

Despite community efforts to stop the closure, last week the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) announced the Alexandria branch located at 2211 S Park Ave will close. The last day of operation will be Wednesday July 2, 2025.
