Tigers’ season ends in Sectional opener against Madison-Grant

The Alexandria-Monroe High School baseball team saw its 2025 season come to a close Wednesday evening in the opening round of the IHSAA Sectional, falling to rival Madison-Grant, 4-2. Despite a late rally in the seventh inning, the Tigers could not overcome a four-run fifth by the Argylls. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was postponed due to rain. When play resumed at Madison-Grant, both teams battled through chilly, mid-May conditions that felt more like early April.

Alexandria’s Lily Harpe named to Indiana North/South Tennis All-Star Classic

Alexandria Lady Tiger tennis standout Lily Harpe has been selected to represent the North Squad in the 2025 Indiana North/South All-Star Senior Classic, a prestigious honor reserved for the state’s top senior tennis players. The All-Star match will take place on Sunday, June 15 at 9 a.m. at the Pendleton Sports and Wellness Center. Harpe becomes the 47th athlete in Alexandria history — and the 16th tennis player — to earn a spot in a North/South All-Star event, marking yet another milestone in a remarkable high school career.

IBA 43rd Annual Conference to be held at Tipton County Fairgrounds

The 43rd Annual Indiana Blacksmithing Association (IBA) will light up the Tipton County Fairground on Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8. The IBA is a non-profit organization for the purpose of gathering, disseminating information, and demonstrating techniques of modern blacksmith. The group’s goal is to expose the public to blacksmiths and encourage the training of new blacksmiths.

Sheriff’s Deputy finds missing child with drone

Deputies from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call of a missing child in the 4700 block of County Road East 900 North near Alexandria Sunday evening. The call came in at 7:35 p.m. when the parents of a non-verbal 12 year old boy with autism noticed he was missing. Deputies responded within minutes and requested assistance from other surrounding agencies requesting manpower for a search of a large, rural area.

ACSC Retirees

Last week the Alexandria Community School Corporation honored those employees retiring from service at the end of the 2024-2025 school year at a dinner with family and friends. Those honored were: Linda Crume (14 years of service, Title 1 Interventionist), Linda Horn (28 years, teacher), Tamara DiRuzza (28 years, teacher), Cherylin Chafin (20 years, cafeteria), and Cynthia McFerran (18 years, teacher).
