Friday, the VanBuren Township Fire Department responded to a fully involved residential fire in the 18000 block of County Road North 300 East in Summitville. VanBuren Township Fire Department Public Information Officer, Angie Huggins, confirmed when fire fighters arrived on the scene, the two-story home was fully involved preventing firefighters from entering the residence.

Last week, Alexandria police officers responded to a report of a dog bite in the 300 block of north Canal Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with James Shannon on the front porch and noticed he was injured from a dog bite to the face.

Alexandria Police Department Captain, Jason Austin, joined APD as a Reserve Officer in 1998. He joined the force as a full-time officer in June of 2002 as a patrol officer. From 2008 through 2016, Austin served as the department’s K9 handler with K9 officer, Blaze. Austin was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2011. He currently serves as the second shift captain.
