My father, James Gordon, and myself wanted to thank the Alexandria Police Department, the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, the Orestes Police, the Summitville Police as well as members of SWAT for their help during last week’s unfortunate events.Their determination, dedication and fearless service ensured my father and I were able to return to our home safely after a truly frightening encounter with an intoxicated and violent house guest and an 8 hour standoff in which the suspect was armed with loaded guns and in a drunken and drug fueled moment of idiocy, recklessly laid siege to our home on East Broadway Street in Alexandria.I especially want to thank our Alexandria Police Department “handler”, Officer Smith for his kindness and concern.
