But the older our kids get – and the more there is at stake when they step in the arena – the more challenging things can become. Expectations and pressure and fear that never existed before can easily become a part of playing the game. New questions that weren’t a part of the experience before are now, questions like...what if I fail? What if I look bad? Do I have what it takes? Sadly for many athletes, the effort and passion that used to come with playing a kid’s game takes a backseat when they start questioning if really, truly competing is worth the risk.

The Alexandria-Monroe Lady Tigers softball team continues its dominant run through the 2024-2025 season, capping off a perfect 3-0 week with emphatic wins over Elwood, Eastbrook, and Marion. The trio of victories boosts the Tigers’ overall record to 15-1 and secures at least a share of the Central Indiana Conference (CIC) Championship with a final conference mark of 6-1. The Tigers now await the result of Mississinewa’s final CIC contests to determine whether Alexandria will share or claim the title outright.

Alexandria Lady Tiger Tennis wraps stellar season, eyes Sectional run

The Alexandria-Monroe Lady Tiger Tennis team capped off a phenomenal regular season, finishing with an impressive 13-2 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the Central Indiana Conference (CIC). With key victories over top-ranked Muncie Burris, Elwood, and Madison-Grant in the final stretch, the Lady Tigers are hitting their stride at the perfect time as they prepare for the IHSAA sectional tournament beginning this week.

Alexandria Girls’ JV Tennis Dominates to Win Home Invitational

The Alexandria Girls’ Junior Varsity Tennis team made a powerful statement on Saturday, capturing the Alexandria Junior Varsity Invitational title in commanding fashion. The Lady Tigers finished atop the standings with 12 total match wins, ahead of Shenandoah (6), Fort Wayne Wayne (5), and Muncie Central (1). Despite having several players away at the Whiteland Invitational with the varsity squad, Alexandria showcased its incredible depth and youth, sweeping all bracket divisions on the day.

Alexandria Lady Tiger Tennis Competes with Heart at Jasper Smash Cancer Invitational

The Alexandria Lady Tiger Tennis team traveled south to take part in the Jasper Smash Cancer Invitational, one of the most competitive and meaningful events of the spring season. Against some of Indiana’s top-ranked programs, the Lady Tigers showcased resilience, pride, and a strong sense of community. More than just a tournament, the event served a deeper purpose: Alexandria’s team wore pink and rallied around a cause close to home, honoring Alexandria Principal Greg Kyle and his family as part of the Invitational’s mission to support families impacted by cancer. The tournament featured an elite field, including top-ranked teams such as Jasper (#1 in District 7), New Albany, and Silver Creek. The Lady Tigers, ranked #4 in District 4, earned a 6th-place team finish and gained valuable experience as they prepare for the postseason.

Lady Tigers Rebound to Reclaim CIC Lead After First Loss of Season

The Alexandria Lady Tiger softball team entered last week atop the Class 2A rankings and undefeated on the season. However, that perfect record was disrupted Tuesday in a hard-fought 6-5 road loss to Mississinewa. Despite the setback, the Lady Tigers showcased their resilience and championship character just two days later, defeating rival Frankton 4-0. Thanks to Madison-Grant’s upset win over Mississinewa, Alexandria regained sole possession of first place in the Central Indiana Conference (CIC).

Both Boys’ and Girls’ Track Teams finish 7th at CIC at meet

The Alexandria Tigers Track and Field teams put forth a spirited effort at the Central Indiana Conference (CIC) Championship Meet last Friday, finishing 7th overall in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions. While the final standings may not fully reflect the heart and hustle shown by the athletes, several Tigers delivered strong individual and relay performances throughout the evening.
